FAQs

Q: Can you work with documents from other states?
A: We can only process documents that were issued or notarized in Wisconsin. If your documents come from another state, they must be apostilled through that state’s designated authority.

Q: Do I need to have my document notarized before I send it to you?
A: Not necessarily. Some documents don’t require notarization, while others do. If needed, we offer both mobile and online notarization before submitting your documents for apostille.

Q: What if I’m not sure whether my document is eligible?
A: That’s okay! Submit an intake form or book a free consultation. We’ll review your situation and let you know exactly what’s required based on the document type and destination country.

Q: Do I have to complete the Apostille Request Form myself?
A: No. We’ll fill it out for you based on the information you provide through our intake form. You don’t need to track down the form or worry about filling it out correctly—we handle that as part of the service.

Q: How will I know my documents are safe during the process?
A: We track all documents throughout every step—from intake through submission and return. Your package is handled securely, and you’ll receive tracking information once it’s been mailed back.

Q: Can I drop my documents off in person?
A: Yes, local drop-off is available in Milwaukee by appointment. We’ll confirm details after you submit the intake form.

Q: What’s the difference between an Apostille and an Authentication? How do I know which one I need?
A: An Apostille is issued when the destination country is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention, which simplifies document legalization between member countries. An Authentication is required when the receiving country is not a member of the Convention—this process typically involves additional steps, including certification from the U.S. Department of State or a foreign embassy or consulate.

When you complete our intake form, we’ll ask which country is requesting the document. We’ll then determine whether your document qualifies for an Apostille or requires Authentication and handle the correct process for you.
